According to Sumerian documents, the Anunnaki race were people from heaven. They were described as coming down from heaven and teaching people many things and then returning to their “home”.
But what is the Anunnaki? Are they related to the biblical mysterious beings called Nephilim?
The term “Anunnaki” has various meanings. It is believed to be derived from the Sumerian language and can be interpreted as “princely offspring” or “offspring of An“. The Anunnaki were a class of gods within the ancient Mesopotamian pantheon. They were worshipped by the people of ancient Mesopotamia, including the Sumerians. Some theories even suggest that the Anunnaki were a species of reptilian humanoids who played a role in the development of Sumerian civilization.
This is also interesting to note because the Bible describes some fallen angels who descend on the earth and ruin humanity. (Genesis 6:2-4) Also, the Book of Enoch speaks about the Watchers who came down to earth and taught mankind things forbidden by God that lead into great trouble and suffering to the world.
In the Book of Enoch, specifically in chapters 6-8, it is stated that the fallen angels taught secrets from heaven to humans, including knowledge of metallurgy and warfare. However, God considered these teachings useless and did not approve of them. The fallen angels’ teachings were not beneficial for humanity. It led into destruction and great suffering. Then, God decided to wipe out the fallen world full of “corrupt, for all the flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.” (Genesis 6:12, ESV)
The relationship between the Anunnaki and fallen angels or watchers is a topic of speculation and interpretation. There are various theories and beliefs regarding this connection. Some sources suggest that the Anunnaki and fallen angels or watchers are related, while others may disagree. The Book of Enoch, for example, mentions the fallen angels or Watchers who interacted with humans, but it does not specifically mention the Anunnaki. It’s important to note that these interpretations are based on ancient texts and mythologies, and there is no definitive evidence to confirm or deny the relationship between the Anunnaki and fallen angels or Watchers.
