Why is the sky blue? |

The sky appears blue because of the way Earth’s atmosphere interacts with sunlight. White light from the Sun is made up of all colors of the rainbow. When this light reaches our atmosphere, it interacts with molecules in the air.

Blue light is scattered in all directions more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This scattering, causes the sky to appear blue in our line of sight.

However, it’s important to note that the sky can change color under different conditions. For example, at sunrise or sunset, the sky can appear red or orange. This is because the Sun is lower in the sky and its light has to pass through more of Earth’s atmosphere. During this process, even more of the blue and violet light gets scattered, allowing the longer wavelength colors like reds and orange to reach our eyes.
