Challenges in School: Behavioral Problems of Learners and How to Manage Them |

There are lots of behavioral problems in school and most of them are involved in students activities inside the school. In this article, I will include some of these issues here. Teachers nowadays are getting pressured and distressed over these situations where learners’ actions may trigger some negative effects on their teachers and peers.

So, what are these problematic behaviors of the learners which sometimes persist in the school?

Psychology Today shows a recent survey where 81% of school administrators indicated the frequency of disruptive behaviors in their schools, according to the report by the Education Advisory (EAB).

Teachers may observe any kind of negative behaviors from their pupils or students. These behaviors are not rare among us. Students are picking on other kids, becoming the class clowns, talking back, refusing to follow rules, and verbally or physically misdeeds. They can engage in explosive outbursts.

Some other negative behaviors of the students are bullying (whether verbal or non verbal factors), talking out of turn, cheating, swearing, fighting, gossiping, making noises, ignoring others, and making fun of others.

So, what’s behind the problem..?

In the Philippines, public and private school institutions across the country are overwhelmed with the K-12 students who are struggling with mental health problems, according to school teachers, staff, and mental health care workers.

Some other causes for the bad behaviors of the students are the increase in classroom size, pandemic-related issues, and mental health issues. Another thing is the lack of self-discipline and poor upbringing.

There are ways to manage such problematic behaviors of the students.

Helping them to be competent and productive

Besides teaching, teachers may be forced to include the special needs of the students inside and outside the classroom.

Because many different factors trigger the children to do something out of order, parents must take care of their children’s best interests.

Taking immediate action and focusing on de-escalation are key ways to manage disruptions in the classroom.
