A Brazilian priest under the alias “Fr. Oliveira” allegedly reported a vision coming from the Virgin Mary that this coming month of October will be the beginning of the “Great Tribulation” prophesied in the Sacred Scriptures.
The said Catholic priest predicted the impending death of the late Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI last year.
On his chronicler, Fr. Oliveira said that the Virgin Mary warned him of the start of the “Great Tribulation” in October which refers to the seven-year period of global distress believed to be prophesied in the Bible especially on the Book of Daniel, the Book of Revelation, and the Gospel of Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Though the Catholic has no official statement on this matter, many conservative Catholics support Oliveira on his predictions and warnings that people should acknowledge God and His words.
But Christians should not immediately believe in whatever they heard or read. They should identify whether the prophetic messages are divinely inspired or not. (1 John 4:1) Biblically, the Lord Jesus Christ prophesied that in the last days, especially on His Parousia or imminent Presence, “For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many. Many false prophets will arise and deceive many; False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.”— Matthew 24:5, 11, 24, NABRE
