The exorcism of Latoya Ammons |

The famous house of demons in Gary, Indiana, USA where over 200 demons claimed to inhabit it.

The Ammons family claimed that demons possessed Latoya and her children, resulting in disturbing behavior such as bulging eyes and evil smiles. What happens to the Latoya family and why do they harass malevolent evil spirit beings?

The demonic hauntings were famously featured in big media and became controversial.

The beginning of the nightmare

In November 2011, Latoya Ammons, her mother, Rosa Campbell, and her three children then ages 7, 9 and 12 moved into a house located at 3860 Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana. Days after the family moved in, they claimed black flies swarmed the porch in December and kept returning even after the family believed they were killed. (Wikipedia)

Campbell initially heard footsteps in the basement and doors creaking. Later, she was alleged to have witnessed a “shadowy figure of a man pacing in the living room” and found a “boot print“. Campbell claimed she was choked by an unknown force. Ammons’ 12-year-old daughter was claimed to have levitated above her bed unconscious during a sleepover with a friend. They were said to have prayed until the girl returned to the bed. The daughter had no memory of the incident. The older son was allegedly thrown across the room by an unknown force. The younger son allegedly had his eyes roll into the back of his head and was growling saying “it’s time to die,” and “I will kill you“.

The mother heard strange footsteps in the basement and door creaking. Later, Rose Campbell is alleged to have witnessed a “shadowy figure of a man pacing in the living room” and found a “boot print“. Campbell also claimed that she was choked by an unknown invisible force. Other dreadful events happened to their 12-year old daughter who claimed to have levitated above her bed unconscious during a sleepover with a friend. Then, they prayed that she would go back to a normal state after the horrendous events. The daughter didn’t notice what happened to her. Campbell claimed that her children, especially the son, were allegedly thrown across the room by an unknown invisible force. Lots of inexplicable things strangely happened to the Ammons house until they became well known to the outside.

The Ammons ask for help

Because of the extreme disturbances, the Ammons family moved to Indianapolis in 2012 after which the events were said to have stopped. But before that, the family reached out to their friends and even to the physician to ask for some help but failed to receive a good answer. They are deemed by skeptics as “delusional“. They also reached out to the police but at first were skeptical of the claim of the Ammons.

Wikipedia says that “in 2012, the Department of Child Services (DCS) was alerted to the family. The DCS believed that the children were performing for their mother. Sensational stories published in outlets such as the New York Daily News reported that DCS personnel had allegedly witnessed the youngest boy ‘walking up the wall backwards’. 37 year police captain, Charles Austin, believed paranormal activity occurred in the house. A photo published by the Indianapolis Star claimed to show a ‘shadowy figure’ when no one was home.”

The Ammons family contacted a Catholic priest to make an exorcism ritual inside the house. They hired Father Michael Maginot to investigate the case and perform a religious exorcism. Maginot said that the family was being “tormented by demons“. He eventually performed three exorcisms using the rite of exorcism, two in English and one in Latin. One exorcism was performed on Latoya Ammons.

Zak Bagans’ investigation in the ‘Demon House’

YouTuber and paranormal investigator Zak Bagans, in 2014, purchased the house for $35,000 and demolished it in January 2016 after filming a documentary in it, titled Demon House that was released on March 16, 2018. Dread Central’s Steve Barton called it “one of the single most compelling documentaries on the existence of the supernatural that I’ve ever witnessed.Los Angeles Times reviewer Noel Murray called the film “hooey“. According to skeptical investigator Kenny Biddle, the film has been characterized as a pseudo-documentary, “meaning it is filmed in a documentary style but doesn’t portray real events“. (Wikipedia)

In January 2023, Bagans cameraman had several paranormal encounters causing his behavior to become erratic and disturbing in a hotel. When he becomes a danger to the rest of the team, Zak is forced to remove him from the crew. Shortly after returning home from the investigation of the house, Dr. Barry Taff proceeds to have unexplained organ failure, landing him in the hospital, nearly dying.

The Ammons haunting, just like the famous Amityville haunted house, is one of the disturbing cases of paranormal activity and demon possession.
