A powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake, followed by aftershocks, strikes Bali and nearby islands. Panicked residents and tourists rushed into the streets after they felt the tremors. The local government said that no major damage as of now has been reported. The quake hit 515 km deep off Bali’s northeastern coast around 3:55 a.m. local time.

Tremors were felt across Bali, Lombok, and Sumbawa. A second aftershock brought stronger tremors.
