The James Webb Space Telescope spotted a strange question-mark-shaped object in deep space and it baffles scientists.

While continuing their usual business of observing the celestial objects across the universe, they accidentally captured something bizarre in the distant part of the cosmos.

Wait, what is that? A giant question mark?

Is it a sign of something? Was the universe trying to tell us something? Or does the Creator of the universe have a sense of humor and try to send us something to be asked for? These just come up in human minds when they see these strange things outside our world!

Scientists believe this may be a pair of galaxies merging. It just happened that they seem to be question mark-shaped, as we saw from the JWST’s discovery.

“Their interactions may have caused the distorted question-mark shape,” said the representative of the Space Telescope Science Institute on Space.com.

“This may be the first time we’ve seen this particular object,” said the STScI.

“Additional follow-up would be required to figure out what it is with any certainty,” added them.

According to Matt Caplan, an assistant professor of physics at Illinois State University, it could also be “a single galaxy with an odd shape” merging.

Therefore, galaxies collide and merge, and that is what we have seen on the strange question mark-shaped objects in space.

“The two distinct features could easily be merging galaxies in the background, with the upper part of the question mark being part of a larger galaxy getting tidally disrupted,” Caplan told Space.com.

“Given the color of some of the other background galaxies, this doesn’t seem like the worst explanation. Despite how chaotic mergers are, double-lobed objects with curvy tails extending away from them are very typical,” he added.

Before JWST found the strange thing, they were observing a pair of actively forming stars, called Herbig-Haro 46/47, and they captured this large picture of cosmic stars last July 26. (See image above)

Question marks are used to express doubt or uncertainty about something.

The question-mark-shaped object in the deep space remains a new mystery to this day.
